The trekking route with an easy to moderate gradient provides some real adventure that is different from the usual Himalayan treks. You walk through a variety of terrains, such as narrow trails running through fields that suddenly open up to thickets of oaks and pines. There are bird chirpings and jungle fowl calls that reverberate throughout the alpine flora as you travel through it.

The Kheerganga trek is linked to two mythologies.

According to legend, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati's son Kartikeya meditated at Kheerganga. The name Kheerganga comes from Goddess Parvati cooking "kheer" in the area's hot water springs for her son.

When Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati visited this region, kheer appeared out of nowhere, according to the second legend. This kheer was turned into water by Parvati Ji. Because of this, the water has a greyish colour and a milky complexion.
